The Ancient Greeks also recognized the significance of balance between sport performance excellence, and a culture that values effort, health, and fun for all its citizens.
This philosophy has carried over to the first Olympic Charter (1908) where the core values were to encourage effort, preserve human dignity, and develop harmony (International Olympic Committee, 2021). More than a century later, these core values hold true in the modern-day Olympic Movement, and sport in general. Today, sport continues to be a catalyst for both personal excellence and a global change for the betterment of its people.
At Áthlima Sport, we use research-informed approaches to connect sport participants back to the origins of sport – performance excellence and fun – by cultivating the joy in working hard, being a good sport, and positive coaching.
